style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">The (yellow) spotted salamander pictured above was discovered by the Turtle Journal team in a mating aggregation during a nighttime\u00c2\u00a0storm in late March.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/spotted-salamander-egg-sac-006-early-840.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" with\u00c2\u00a0floating, slightly submerged,\u00c2\u00a0jello-like sacs the size of bulging Italian egg plants, each of which might contain a hundred or more individual eggs.\u00c2\u00a0 The photograph above was taken in the dark of night, which accounts for its lack of sharpness, but illustrates what individual eggs resemble shortly after deposition.<\/p>\n<p><a center\"><strong><em>Spotted Salamander Egg Sac Nearly Three Weeks Later<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">Now, we are nearly three weeks after\u00c2\u00a0spring rains and the mating aggregation.\u00c2\u00a0 The egg sacs are maturing as are the eggs within them.<\/p>\n<p><a
