November, winter tarries into March, and spring never comes on time.\u00c2\u00a0 But as water temperatures inch upward at turtle speeds and the mud flats begin to thaw, the marsh reluctantly surrenders its secrets, held buried since last October.\u00c2\u00a0 Remains of two terrapins were uncovered in the Fox Island Wildlife Management Area this morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/03\/03-19-1-480.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4857\" title=\"03-19-1 480\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><strong><em>Mature Male Terrapin Carcass in Fox Island WMA<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">The first turtle was a mature male, 6 or 7 years old.\u00c2\u00a0 He had not been previously observed by our research team, so there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s no history on this fellow.\u00c2\u00a0 His sported flared rear marginals and had an unusual slant cut across the front of his carapace which had shaved most of his right front marginal clean off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/03\/03-19-2-480.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4858\" title=\"03-19-2 480\" justify\">The second terrapin was a 2-year-old juvenile, completely desiccated but limbs\u00c2\u00a0mostly intact.\u00c2\u00a0 The shell had become bloated and separated along the seams, making accurate measurements impossible.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/03\/03-19-3-480.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone asleep, tickled the high forties, inching ever so slowly toward the magic 55\u00c2\u00baF wake-up call.\u00c2\u00a0 And so we wait our here at the end of the universe. impatiently, for either Godot or
