justify\">A two-day Atlantic storm which pelted the Cape with cold rain amid northerly gusts yielded a surprise dividend this afternoon.\u00c2\u00a0 During a period when 5-pound sea turtles are stranding cold-stunned on Cape Cod beaches and mature diamondback terrapins have been tucked away in their winter hibernacula for nearly a month, we were shocked to discover a 4-gram hatchling strolling down the road on Lieutenant Island.\u00c2\u00a0 Hatchling 90 was roaming as if lost along a dirt road on West Island within shouting distance of the Murphy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cottage.\u00c2\u00a0 The nest from whence she emerged could not be located.<\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2000\/11\/11-07-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4423 aligncenter\" title=\"11-07-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2000\/11\/11-07-2.jpg\" alt=\"11-07-2\" width=\"451\" height=\"577\" sizes=\"(max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><strong><em>Light and Possibily Dehydrated, Still Sporting Egg Tooth<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">At 2.7 centimeters carapace length, she&#8217;s about mid sized, but seems quite light at only 4 grams.\u00c2\u00a0 Her yolk sac has been mostly absorbed, but her egg tooth remains quite prominent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2000\/11\/11-07-3-480.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><strong><em>Terrapin Hatchling with Eyes Still Closed<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">Sadly she may be blind.\u00c2\u00a0 Neither eye has opened, although there is no anomalous growth as witnessed on Hatchling 2-99 from Lieutenant Island last year.\u00c2\u00a0 She\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s resting now and gradually warming in my garage lab.\u00c2\u00a0 The wet tank has been prepared for her once she becomes more
