cameras clicked and whirred to the assistance of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.massmarineeducators.org\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Massachusetts Marine Educators<\/a> (MME)\u00c2\u00a0on Saturday to document their annual conference at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI).\u00c2\u00a0 This traditional event which gathers together marine educators, formal and informal, from across the state has convened at WHOI for more than three decades.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/003.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"444\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2715\" title=\"003\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/003.jpg\" alt=\"003\" 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><strong><em>Exhibit Hall Outside Redfield Auditorium @ WHOI<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Attendance has trended downward the last\u00c2\u00a0few years and continues a bit sluggish with the economic downturn.\u00c2\u00a0 But enthusiasm for the event remains high among the faithful and a few new faces mixed among the crowd of regulars.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/002.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"629\" 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><strong><em>National Marine Life Center Exhibit Table<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">While Sue Wieber Nourse, a past president and current board member of MME, photo-documented the day at the request of the incoming president, Don Lewis spent time advocating for his current project: building a new marine animal hospital at the <a href=\"http:\/\/nmlc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Marine Life Center<\/a> in Buzzards Bay at the gateway to Cape Cod and North America&#8217;s most active stranding hotspot.\u00c2\u00a0 He released a new and compelling video, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Cguu0X5LNcI&amp;fmt=18\" target=\"_blank\">Mass Stranding<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(click on title), in WHOI, presented a talk on Climate Change and the Future of the Oceans in the 21st Century.\u00c2\u00a0 The video clip offers a brief snippet of his 45 minute dissertation, followed by education, Dr. Michael Moore (WHOI) offered a slide presentation on Using Yesterday&#8217;s Tools and Techniques to Conserve Today&#8217;s Whales.\u00c2\u00a0 From saving stranded dolphins on Cape Cod\u00c2\u00a0to disentangling\u00c2\u00a0or necropsying large whales at sea, Michael talked about the lessons we had learned from our historic whaling industry and culture, as well as the precision tools and techniques whalers had perfected in pursuit of their trade that would be the envy of today&#8217;s seaborne cetacean scientist.<\/p>\n<p><a
