in from the North Atlantic, storm clouds pelted Wellfleet with horizontal snow;\u00c2\u00a0flakes so\u00c2\u00a0heavy\u00c2\u00a0they seemed to richochet like shotgun pellets when\u00c2\u00a0they smashed against the wooden pier.\u00c2\u00a0 Sue Wieber Nourse spotted the first dorsal fin when it poked through the broil near the harbor buoy.\u00c2\u00a0 First a pair of dolphins skimmed across the foam, then another, and so on until we counted no fewer than six good size specimens.\u00c2\u00a0 Visibility hampered species identification, although these critters\u00c2\u00a0left the intuitive impression with Don that they may be a pod of Atlantic white-sided dolphins.<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" Takes Storm Refuge in Wellfleet Harbor<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">The dolphins\u00c2\u00a0patrolled like sentinels, back and forth between the harbor buoy and the commercial fishing pier.\u00c2\u00a0 None of the animals appeared in distress, but Wellfleet&#8217;s huge tidal swings\u00c2\u00a0augmented by a blistering nor&#8217;easter pose a threat to anyone or any\u00c2\u00a0creature at sea.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0So, with\u00c2\u00a0the tide still falling,\u00c2\u00a0we alerted the Marine Mammal Stranding Network, just in case\u00c2\u00a0the rescue of a beached animal might be in the cards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">A harbor seal surfaced about 25 feet from the pod with a quizzical expression as though silently asking, &#8220;Who the
