basking on a distant island.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a of the bog, netted hardy Male Spotted Turtle #109 basking on a grass clump between snow and ice patches. \u00c2\u00a0Rufus the Turtle Dog, of course, supervised the entire enterprise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p #000000;\">We first met #109 on 10 April 2014, swimming in the mating aggregation at Grassi Bog with three other males and females. \u00c2\u00a0At the time, he weighed 110 grams and measured 8.75 centimeters straight-line carapace length. \u00c2\u00a0A healthy, young male.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtlejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/spotted-turtle-119-1-Apr-2015-002-960.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full #000000;\">Since last year he has done quite well, gaining size and weight, even over this challenging winter. \u00c2\u00a0#109 now weighs 122 grams and measures 9.26 centimeters carapace length.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, FINALLY, the game&#8217;s afoot for turtle research on the SouthCoast of
